The employee lifecycle
Every employee moves through the same four states, whether it's your first or your fifteenth.

The four states
Draft → In training → Live → Paused
Draft is the moment right after Employee Store hands you a first pass at the script — nothing has been confirmed yet. In training begins once you confirm it: free to refine indefinitely, no real calls. Live begins once it has a phone number and you've published — real calls start flowing. Paused is where it lands when you flip its own "Taking calls" switch off; nothing expires on its own, and nothing is lost.
The three-part gate for real calls
An employee only ever makes or takes a real call when all three of these are simultaneously true:
- It has a phone number — Its own number, assigned to it and past its ID check. One number, one employee.
- "Taking calls" is on — Its own switch — you can pause an employee at any time without giving up its number.
- Published at least once — Its script has been pushed live at least one time — see Publishing changes.
Any one of the three being off means no live calls go out — but nothing is ever lost. Flip the missing piece back on and the employee resumes exactly where it left off, with its full history intact.
